Is there any upfront cost to use the service?

Nope.

Then how does VHX make money?

We take a percentage of the gross and pass on certain expenses.

What Expenses do you pass on?

We pass on fees from our merchant partners and for bandwidth for streaming and downloads. The total amount will vary depending on usage, but a full breakdown of them can be found here:

How much of the gross do you take?

Can I bundle my film with other digital products such as a soundtrack or extra features?

Absolutely. We can also set up tiers of bundles with other digital goods or special features for your film.

Can I sell pre-orders of my film?

Yes. We can easily set up a page for users to pre-order the film and be notified upon its release. We encourage you to offer some kind of incentive (discount, rewards) for users to order the film ahead of its release.

Can I sell physical merchandise like DVDs, t-shirts, and posters along with my film?

Yes, although those products will have to be sold and fulfilled separately via an e-commerce provider.

Do you do rentals?

Not at this time. We offer your customers the ability to stream and download DRM-free copies of your film at a single price point, without any time restriction.

Can I geo-block access to my movie?

We can block access to the site to users of specific regions if necessary…
However we strongly encourage global, simultaneous release and our platform supports subtitling and internationalization. Indie Game: The Movie launched worldwide and over 60% of sales were international.

Can I also sell my movie on iTunes, Amazon, or VOD?

Yes. We are 100% non-exclusive - you are free to sell your movie anywhere you’d like.

How do I get paid?

We pay our filmmakers electronically via Dwolla, which will transfer funds directly into a bank account of your choosing for no fee. Payments are issued monthly.

Do you provide marketing?

We do not offer formal marketing services, but we can help you promote your film online via partners such as Reddit and Buzzfeed, as well as providing you with regular reports to measure the effectiveness of your marketing and promotional efforts.

How do I deliver my movie?

We accept electronic delivery via Dropbox or our uploader. If you are unable to deliver your movie electronically, please contact us.

When will VHX be available to everyone?

We are already letting people in and hope to open our doors even more in early 2013.
